This is the first time for me and my partner was Carolien of Kralalien. She creates lampwork beads so I was very happy that Lori paired me with her!! :) And I was not disappointed at all when I got my beads! But this doesn't mean It was easy to work with my bead soup ;) I am used to seed beads and bead weaving, bead embroidery techniques, and now I had a bowl of large beads! Here's what I got:
I had some seed beads though (larger than what I usually work with), silver tone metal beads, glass beads in crystal, turquoise and cobalt blue, a beautiful flower clasp (I really really love it!), and lampwork beads made by Carolien herself! They are cobalt blue, turquoise and transparent, with a gorgeous focal bead that reminded me of Turkish Evil Eye beads! I fell in love with this one the moment I saw it (readers of my blog might know that I love Turkey and Istanbul :)
Here's what I cooked :)
They might be simple but I wanted to make something I can wear too - mostly wear bracelets and earrings. So I created a set that reminds me of Istanbul - a multistrand bracelet with the focal bead and the clasp, and a pair of oriental style earrings with swirled and hammered wire and glass beads that look like a sultan's turban. From my own stash I added some cobalt blue seed beads, some silver seed beads and a few evil eye beads that I brought from Turkey.
I made another pair of earrings too with the swirled glass beads. They are simple but perfect to wear at work :)
I didn't use all the beads yet (because those were too large to include them in the bracelet and too heavy for my ears), I think I will make a necklace from them. Maybe with a bead embroidered pendant :)
I hope Carolien likes what I made from her beads! :)
Here's what she created from my bead soup, I love the set!!
Click on the picture to see her post :)
Thank you Carolien for the pretty bead soup and thank you Lori for organizing the game and choosing me to play! :) It's been a lot of fun! And now I'm off to see what others created! :)
